This App Makes Life Easier for STL Transplants

Released last week, City to City - St. Louis is a local guidance tool that quickly translates area neighborhoods into the context of more than a dozen other metropolitan cities.

Being the new kid on the block is never easy. You have to find a place to live, places to shop, new bars to frequent, and that’s all hard to do when you don’t know anyone in your new location.

IMG_0376Fortunately for those migrating to the Gateway City, we have St. Louis Transplants to create a smoother transition through community and culture programming. Now, their guidance is a few swipes away with their app, City to City — St. Louis.

Released last week, City to City – St. Louis is a local guidance tool that quickly translates area neighborhoods into the context of more than a dozen other metropolitan cities. The app also includes maps for easy exploration with prompts for user feedback.

“At STL Transplants, we noticed that the overwhelming majority of new arrivals were experiencing life in very homogenous, distant suburbs. It was not only isolating for them socially, but detrimental in terms of employer retention,”says founder of St. Louis Transplants, Anthony Bartlett. “Nowadays, your lifestyle in the city is equally important to your job.”

Bartlett hopes the app provides users with the needed context to encourage exploration of the urban core that appeals most to community-minded professionals.

IMG_0378“We purposely designed the app system for updates provided by business travelers, students, new arrivals and seasoned transplants, to name a few. This way, the app grows and evolves in real time via its users,” says Bartlett.

And what if you already live in the Lou? Then the app is handy for business trips or vacations to other cities. Now we can find the Central West End in Boston or Clayton in Columbus.

But neighborhood translations are just the beginning of what City-to-City plans to offer.

“At its heart, this app is about aligning all the amazing findings from people living around world,” said Bartlett. “Imagine transferring your knowledge of dining, nightlife, venues, schools, services and the like, instantly, wherever you go. These areas too will be offered in future versions of the app.”

Right now City-to-City – St. Louis is available free for iOS through the Apple App Store. Find out more.
