#STL2ARG: St. Louis World Trade Delegation Visit Argentina

St. Louis regional leaders will visit Buenos Aires and Rosario to maintain longstanding historical ties and forge new relationships through trade and higher education.

More than 30 community and business leaders from the St. Louis region are set for a trade & investment mission to Argentina. The World Trade Center St. Louis and St. Louis Economic Development Partnership are leading the trade & investment mission.

“In recent months, St. Louis has explored interest in developing a deeper relationship with Argentina,” Nowak said. “There are currently a number of important connections as global agriculture leaders Bunge and Monsanto maintain a strong presence in both St. Louis and Argentina.”

Partnership CEO Sheila Sweeney, World Trade Center Executive Director Tim Nowak, and senior-level executives from many St. Louis-area companies and organizations are scheduled to attend. The Yield Lab, a St. Louis-based AgTech Accelerator, is also expected to make a special announcement.

“Several recently-established entrepreneurs in St. Louis have longstanding historical ties to Argentina,” Nowak continued. “By leading this delegation, we intend to leverage the momentum and develop new connections economically through trade & investment with a particular focus on agricultural and financial technology, academically through our universities and culturally through our institutions and people.”

In addition to Sweeney, the Partnership will be represented by Vice President of Innovation & Entrepreneurship Ginger Imster and Vice President of Administration Kristin Lappin.

“We are really looking forward to this trip,” Nowak added. “On one hand, there are so many awesome things happening in the St. Louis region and we will be able to tell those stories. On the other hand, one of our main objectives is to learn from these great leaders in Buenos Aires and Rosario. We want to hear their stories and see first-hand what they are doing.”
