Open Data STL Monthly Meeting

This group is for champions, advocates, innovators, and practitioners of open data and open government in the Saint Louis region. There are roles for developers, technologists, bureaucrats, policy wonks, and anyone else who wants to contribute to the policy implementation, software development, advocacy, and just plain hard work of creating an open data platform for local government in this area.
1 Million Cups

LawSourceLive and GivePet present at this week’s event. 1 Million Cups is a free, weekly national program designed to educate, engage, and connect entrepreneurs. Developed by the Kauffman Foundation, 1MC is based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and network over a million cups of coffee.
“CODE” Film Screening & Community Discussion on Diversity in Tech

According to a 2012 report put forth by Microsoft, an estimated 1 million technology jobs will go unfilled by 2020, yet at most of the country’s leading technology companies, women and people of color account for less than 20% of the tech workforce. Join Express Scripts for a filming of “CODE,” documentary film that explores these gaps through compelling interviews, artistic animation and flash points in pop culture, examining the reasons why more girls and people of color are not seeking opportunities in computer science.

Sprouted Radish Supper Club

Wrap up your week with a unique dining experience with like-minded folks. TechArtista is partnering with Sprouted Radish Supper Club and Edo Rosenblith for a one-night-only event. For $35 a ticket, guests will receive a ten-course meal inspired by Japanese and Korean cuisine. In light of Halloween, the menu will include unusual meats and reflect the food presented in Edo’s mural “Supper Club.” There will be vegetarian options as well. For an extra $15, you can get a beer pairing from St. Louis’ Rockwell Beer Company to accompany each course.
